On Casting Spells
Many of us, myself included tend to cast spells to aid change or help others.
In my mind a spell should be cast only when all other options have been exhausted, or in some cases as a boost to your own physical attempts to resolve the problem. I have no qualms about casting a spell to help another get out of a violent situation or to help another deal with their grief.
I cannot however condone the casting of spells for love as i consider these to be potentially harmful and taking away a person's control and the chance to find someone they can truly love. Also magic is not a toy to be played with, and love is a very strong emotion. It's a prime example of 'be careful what you wish for'.
Magic rarely goes by the book and should only be practiced by those who understand the inplications. How you word something can effect how the outcome comes about. You cast a money spell without putting in boundaries? You could end up losing that favourite Auntie to the Summerlands.
Cast a love spell...any one seen how that went for Sarah in the film The Craft?
In my opinion, you want to cast a spell, good for you. Just be sure that you know what your doing, and have the relevant knowledge and experience to make sure it doesn't go sour. Failing that check with someone who does, or else don't try at all.
I'd love to know what you all think.
How do you view spells? Do you see them as helping to right a wrong? Or do you see it as an interference and taking away another's free will?

Re: On Casting Spells
I have to say here for the most part i totally agree with pythia, please when casting a spell, be careful, be specific set your boundaries.
Another thing i will add, is do not cast a positive spell when feeling negative, its just not going to work. IF you have exhusted all other possible solutions and still think a positive spell is required to help you out of a negative slump, please ask someone else to cast for you......obviously someone you know and trust....that's my personal view on it, what you do is obviously down to your own discretion.
Now we come to my big question, If you are casting a spell for someone without there permission are you removing their free will? even if its to help? If this is the case then i doubt many spells would ever be cast to be honest. Although i believe i asked similar questions in a previous thread
For my part, yes i will cast a spell to help someone with or without their permission, preferably with.

Re: On Casting Spells
I don’t think I see a problem in casting a spell for someone without their knowledge, to me it’s the same as saying a prayer for someone and I wouldn’t consider praying for someone to be taking away their free will.
As for love spells, I don’t see any problem in casting a general spell to find love but I think there’s a big problem in casting it for a specific person. For a start, I would imagine it would be a pretty powerful and complicated spell or ritual to make someone fall in love with you, if it’s even possible. I don’t think I trust that most of the people who are likely to consider using a love spell would take the time to learn and make sure they were doing it properly. Unfortunately I think most would be either reckless or flippant about it and end up in a dangerous mess.
Like Pythia says, love is a very strong and complex emotion; it’s hard enough to understand and control without the interference of magic.
My opinion of spells in general is much the same as anything, as long as you truly know what you’re doing and you take responsibility for yourself and your actions then you should do what feels ok for you.
